What we collect and why

Account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture. You can use the app without an account.
Location. Used on your device to calculate prayer times and the qibla direction. Your coordinates are not sent to our servers and are not stored there. You may decline the permission and choose your city manually.
Your content. Favourites, saved items, reading progress and app settings, so they are still there on a new device.
Technical data. A device identifier generated by the app, your IP address and the app version, used to protect the service from abuse.
Notifications. Your app subscribes to general topics by language and country. We do not store a token for your device.

The free version of the app shows ads. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent the first time you open the app, and you can change that choice in Settings.

Ads never appear while reading the Quran, in the dhikr counter, or in the Hajj and Umrah section. The Sakina Plus subscription removes ads from the whole app.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for marketing. Limited data is processed on our behalf by Google (Firebase and Google Play services) for sign-in, app security, analytics, crash reporting, notifications, ads and subscriptions.

How long we keep it

Technical request logs are deleted every night.
Unused anonymous accounts are deleted after 30 days.
Everything else is kept until you delete your account.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections, and access to it is limited to the people who need it to run the service.

Deleting your account

In the app: Account → Delete account, or see the account deletion page. Deletion is permanent.

Children

Sakina is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe we have, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You may ask for a copy of your data, for it to be corrected, or for it to be deleted. Email us at the address above; we reply within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we update the date above. Material changes are announced in the app before they take effect.
